Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Care Points during our closed beta. By requesting an invite or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Care Points is

Care Points is a points-based tool that helps trusted communities — neighborhoods, friend circles, parent networks — coordinate babysitting among people who already know each other. It is not a marketplace for hiring strangers: we don't process payments for childcare, and every co-op is a private, invite-gated group.

Care Points does not run background checks on members and does not vet, supervise, or guarantee any member's suitability as a sitter or caregiver. You are solely responsible for deciding who cares for your children, just as you would with any informal arrangement among people you know.

Eligibility & accounts

You must be an adult (18+) and the parent, guardian, or otherwise authorized to arrange childcare for the children involved.
Joining a co-op requires an invite code from an existing member and approval from a co-op admin.
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account secure.

The points economy

Points are an internal unit for tracking babysitting time within a co-op. They have no cash value, cannot be purchased, redeemed for money, or transferred outside Care Points.
New members receive a welcome balance so they can request care before they've had a chance to earn points by sitting.
Co-ops may set a monthly emergency allowance for short-notice requests, and admins can tune points-per-hour and other economy settings for their group.
Requesters may cancel a request without penalty. A sitter who backs out after accepting a request may receive a rating impact, to keep the system fair for everyone.

Your responsibilities

Use Care Points only to coordinate legitimate childcare within a community you're genuinely part of.
Treat other members respectfully in requests, offers, ratings, and messages.
Leave honest ratings and reviews — the trust system only works if they reflect real experiences.
Don't use the app for anything unlawful, harmful, or intended to harass or deceive other members.

Closed beta terms

The beta is currently limited to a set number of testers. Features, points values, and screens may change before public launch.
We may pause, modify, or end the beta at any time, and beta accounts and data may not carry forward unchanged into the public release.
Feedback you share with us about the beta may be used to improve Care Points without any obligation to compensate you.

Disclaimer & limitation of liability

Care Points is provided "as is" during the beta, without warranties of any kind. We are not a party to, and are not responsible for, the childcare arrangements made between members — including any injury, loss, or dispute arising from a sit arranged through the app. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Care Points is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Termination

You may stop using Care Points at any time. We may suspend or remove an account that violates these terms or puts other members at risk.

Changes to these terms

As Care Points moves from closed beta toward public launch, these terms will be updated. We'll notify beta members by email of any material changes.
